Christophe Gans communique très tôt sa passion pour la cinéma en écrivant dans plusieurs fanzines et magazines dont le cultissime « Starfix », bible cinéphilique dont le ton engagé et les partis pris éditoriaux audacieux ont définitivement marqué plusieurs générations de cinéphages. En 1994, sous l’impulsion du producteur Samuel Hadida, il passe à la réalisation en signant l’un des segments de l’anthologie lovecraftienne Necronomicon intitulé The Drowned. L’année suivante, il adapte l’un des monuments de la bande dessinée nippone, Crying Freeman de Ryoichi Ikegami et Kazuo Koike, et révèle une sensibilité à la croisée d’influences pop, classiques, occidentales et orientales. En 2001, il part explorer le XVIIIe siècle dans le film d’aventures Le Pacte des loups, qui séduit un très large public à travers le monde. En 2006, il adapte pour le cinéma le chef-d’œuvre du jeu vidéo d’horreur Silent Hill, avec lequel il conquiert à nouveau une audience internationale. Il revient sur les écrans en 2014 avec une nouvelle adaptation du célèbre conte La Belle et La Bête.

Christophe Gans expressed his early passion for cinema by writing for several fanzines and magazines including the ultra-cult “Starfix,” a film lovers’ bible whose committed tone and audacious editorial line definitively influenced several generations of movie junkies. In 1994, at the instigation of producer Samuel Hadida, he moved into directing with one segment of the Lovecraftian anthology Necronomicon entitled The Drowned. The following year, he adapted one of the monuments of Japanese comic books, Ryoichi Ikegami and Kazuo Koike’s Crying Freeman, revealing a sensibility fusing pop, classical, Western and Eastern influences. In 2001, he went off to explore the 18th century with the adventure film Brotherhood of the Wolf, which garnered a huge worldwide audience. In 2006, he directed a film adaptation of the horror video game masterpiece Silent Hill, once again captivating audiences around the globe. He returned to screens in 2014 with a new adaptation of the celebrated fairy tale Beauty and the Beast.
