Enlevé trois ans plus tôt par des extraterrestres, Sam Philips est de retour sur Terre. Bien décidé à retrouver sa femme Rachel et son fils Tony, l’homme met tout en œuvre pour les retrouver. Mais les retrouvailles sont compliquées. Sam est confronté à Joe, le nouveau compagnon de Rachel. Munis de pouvoirs surnaturels, Mr Philips a d’étranges projets pour le futur de cette famille.

Sam Philips, abducted by aliens three years earlier, returns to earth and seeks out his wife Rachel and his son Tony, but his spouse has since been living with Joe and the reunion is awkward. Joe doesn’t trust Sam, and Rachel can’t quite decide what her feelings are for her two men. Sam is not the same as when he left, and he begins affecting Tony in frightening ways.

Né en 1950 à Londres, il débute dans le cinéma en 1967 en tant qu’assistant du réalisateur Nicholas Ray. Après cette formation, il réalise son premier long métrage, le film à suspense Whispers of Fear, en 1976. Il rencontre son plus grand succès commercial six ans plus tard avec le film d’horreur de science-fiction Xtro, dont il signe deux autres opus. Il tourne le second volet en 1990 aux Etats-Unis, où il va s’installer définitivement.

Born in 1950 in London, he entered the film business in 1967 as assistant to Nicholas Ray. Following his apprenticeship, he made his directorial debut with suspense film Whispers of Fear (1976). His biggest commercial success came six years later in the form of Xtro, a sci-fi horror film which spawned two sequels. He made the second installment in the USA in 1990 and has worked exclusively there ever since.
