Né en 1972 au Danemark, il réalise tout d’abord trois courts métrages : Ernst et la lumière (1996), Wolfgang (1997) et Soirée d’élections (1998) qui sont tous nommés aux Oscars ; le troisième remportant la statuette. En 2000, il signe son premier long métrage, la comédie policière Lumières dansantes. Inconditionnel du cinéma de genre, il réalise ensuite la comédie horrifique Les Bouchers verts (2003), puis la comédie noire Adam’s Apples (2005). Il signe par la suite d’autres films mêlant comédie, horreur et humour noir : Men & Chicken (2015) et Riders of Justice (2020). Il est aussi le scénariste de nombreux réalisateurs, dont Susanne Bier et Kristian Levring.

Born in 1972 in Denmark, he first made the short films Ernst & the Light (1996), Wolfgang (1997), and Election Night (1998) which were all nominated for the Academy Award; the last one winning the trophy. In 2000, as a film genre buff, he directed crime comedy Flickering Lights, his feature debut. After horror comedy The Green Butchers (2003) and black comedy Adam’s Apples (2005), he returned with some other films mixing comedy, horror and black humor: Men & Chicken (2015) and Riders of Justice (2020). He is also the scriptwriter for many filmmakers such as Susanne Bier and Kristian Levring.
