À Séoul, un tremblement de terre d’une violence inouïe ravage la ville et détruit tous les immeubles, tous sauf un. Face à l’ampleur des dégâts et à la nécessité de se protéger, les habitants de l’immeuble s’organisent face aux autres survivants massés à l’extérieur. Mais les enjeux liés à leur survie feront naître des tensions au sein de leur communauté.

SYNOPSIS
In Seoul, a most violent earthquake destroyed the city and all its buildings, all of them except one. Facing the tremendous amount of damages and their need to protect themselves, safe building survivors have to gather and to protect themselves against the others stayed outside. However, surviving will make tensions emerge inside their community.

Né à Séoul, il travaille comme assistant réalisateur de Park Chan-wook et signe les courts métrages Heart Vibrator (2011) et Forest (2012). En 2013, il réalise son premier long métrage, Ingtoogi: The Battle of Internet Trolls, qui reçoit un bel accueil critique, puis le drame fantastique Vanishing Time: A Boy Who Returned (2016). Concrete Utopia, son troisième film, représente cette année la Corée du Sud à l’Oscar du meilleur film international.
Born in Seoul, he worked as assistant director for Park Chan-wook and directed the shorts films Heart Vibrator (2011) and Forest (2012). In 2013, he made his first feature film, critically acclaimed Ingtoogi: The Battle of Internet Trolls, followed by fantasy drama Vanishing Time: A Boy Who Returned in 2016. Concrete Utopia, his third film, is the 2023 South Korea entrance for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film.
