Né en 1949 à Nara, au Japon, il débute sa carrière dans le monde du pinku eiga, collaborant avec des réalisateurs reconnus tels que Mamoru Watanabe et Koki Wakamatsu. En 1988, il signe Door, produit par la Director’s Company, célèbre défricheuse de talents dans les années 1980 avec des réalisateurs comme Kiyoshi Kurosawa ou Shinji Somai. Avec ce film, le cinéaste se revendique aussi bien du giallo italien que du thriller psychologique à la Brian De Palma, mêlant érotisme et violence.

Born in 1949 in Nara, Japan, he began his career in the world of pinku eiga, directing and collaborating with established directors such as Mamoru Watanabe and Koji Wakamatsu. In 1988, he made Door, produced by the Director’s Company, a famous talent scout company in the 80s with such directors as Kiyoshi Kurosawa or Shinji Somai. With this film, he draws his inspiration from Italian Giallo to psychological thrillers in the vein of Brian De Palma, combining erotism and violence.
