Après plusieurs apparitions, enfant, dans des courts métrages et sur le petit écran, Finnegan Oldfield débute sa carrière au cinéma en 2008 dans Les hauts murs de Christian Faure. Trois ans plus tard, Tristan Aurouet lui offre un rôle de premier plan dans son film Mineurs 27. Le comédien apparaît ensuite dans La Mer à l’aube de Volker Schlöndorff (2011), La Marche de Nabil Ben Yadir (2013) ou encore Geronimo de Tony Gatlif (2014). En 2015, il tient l’un des rôles principaux dans Les Cowboys de Thomas Bidegain, pour lequel il est nommé au César du meilleur espoir masculin, et Ni le ciel ni la terre de Clément Cogitore. Finnegan Oldfield tourne ensuite sous la direction, entre autres, de Stéphane Brizé (Une vie, 2016), Katell Quillévéré (Réparer les vivants, 2016), Bertrand Bonello (Nocturama, 2016), Éric Barbier (La Promesse de l’aube, 2017) et Anne Fontaine (Marvin ou la belle éducation, 2017). Son interprétation dans ce drame lui permet en 2018 d’être nommé à nouveau au César du meilleur espoir masculin. En 2020, il est à l’affiche de Gagarine de Fanny Liatard & Jérémy Trouilh et La Terre des hommes de Naël Marandin. Cette dernière, Finnegan Oldfield donne la réplique à Bérénice Bejo dans la comédie horrifique Coupez ! de Michel Hazanavicius, Pierre Deladonchamps dans le film social Reprise en main de Gilles Perret et Vicky Krieps dans le film en costumes Corsage de Marie Kreutzer. Il sera prochainement sur les écrans aux côtés d’Ophélie Bau dans Free Like Air d’Abdolreza Kahani.

After several appearances as a child in short films and television, Finnegan Oldfield launched his film career in Christian Faure’s 2008 Behind the Walls. Three years later, Tristan Aurouet offered him a lead role in his film Blind Valley. The actor went on to appear in several features including Volker Schlöndorff’s Calm at Sea (2011), Nabil Ben Yadir’s The Marchers (2013) and Tony Gatlif’s Geronimo (2014). He stood out again in 2015 in two leading roles, in Thomas Bidegain’s The Cowboys, for which he was nominated for the 2016 César Award for Most Promising Actor, and in Clément Cogitore’s Neither Heaven Nor Earth. He then worked, among others, under the direction of Stéphane Brizé (A Woman’s Life, 2016) Katell Quillévéré (Heal the Living, 2016), Bertrand Bonello (Nocturama, 2016), Éric Barbier (Promise at Dawn, 2017) and Anne Fontaine (Reinventing Marvin, 2017). His performance in this drama earned him another César nomination for Most Promising Actor in 2018. In 2020, he appeared in Fanny Liatard & Jérémy Trouilh’s Gagarine and Naël Marandin’s Beasts. Last year, he starred opposite Bérénice Bejo in Michel Hazanavicius’ horror comedy Final Cut, Pierre Deladonchamps in Gilles Perret’s social film The Takeover and Vicky Krieps in Marie Kreutzer’s costume drama Corsage. He will be seen next with Ophélie Bau in Abdolreza Kahani’s Free Like Air.
