Naoto Ihara mène une vie heureuse avec son épouse Miyuki et leur fils Haruto. Leur bonheur est anéanti le jour où Miyuki meurt dans un accident de voiture. SYNOPSIS
Naoto Ihara lives happily with his wife Miyuki and their son Haruto. Their happiness is crushed when Miyuki suddenly dies in a car accident. Naoto falls into deep grief over the death of his wife. Meanwhile, Haruto buries his dead mother’s finger in their garden and prays every day for her to come back to life. Strange phenomena soon take place…

Diplômé de l’Université de Tokyo, il signe en 1996 son premier long métrage, L’Actrice fantôme, puis réalise Ring (1998), qui permet à la vague de films d’horreur japonais de déferler sur le monde. Il remporte en 2003 le Grand Prix du Festival de Gérardmer avec Dark Water. Trois ans plus tard, il préside le jury du festival, qui lui rend également hommage.
Graduated from the University of Tokyo, he made in 1996 his feature debut with The Ghost Actress and then Ring (1998), that sparked a Japanese horror movie boom worldwide. He won in 2003 the Gérardmer Film Festival Grand Prize with Dark Water. Three years later, he was the president of the jury of the festival and received a tribute.
