Dans un monde futuriste où l’eau se fait rare, Noria est devenue la Maîtresse du thé de son village, suivant à la lettre les traditions héritées de son défunt père. Elle détient également un secret bien gardé depuis des générations. La jeune femme doit faire appel à sa force tranquille pour la guider à travers une dangereuse odyssée pour la survie de son peuple.

In a waterless world of the future, Noria becomes the village’s Tea Master following the traditions of her deceased father and inheriting a secret truth that has been hidden for a long time. The young woman must wield her quiet strength as a compass along a dangerous journey for her people’s survival.

Saara Saarela

Née en 1971 à Helsinki en Finlande, elle étudie l’histoire du cinéma à l’université Paris 8 et obtient une maîtrise en réalisation de l’école de cinéma d’Helsinki. Elle réalise depuis des courts métrages, des séries télévisées et des films, comme le long métrage Twisted Roots (2009) et le téléfilm policier La Vénitienne (2010) pour Arte. Elle développe actuellement un thriller psychologique en co-production avec la France et enseigne la réalisation cinématographique à l’université finlandaise Aalto. Memory of Water est son quatrième long métrage.

Born in 1971 in Helsinki, Finland, she graduated in Film Studies from the University of Paris 8 and had a film director (MA) from Helsinki Film School. She then directed short films, television series and films, such as the feature Twisted Roots (2009) and the French political thriller The Venitian (2010) for Arte. She is currently developing a psychological thriller in co-production with France and working as a professor in film directing at Aalto University in Finland. Memory of Water is her fourth feature film.
