A Séoul, Gang-du Park tient un petit snack au bord de la rivière où il vit avec sa famille, dont sa fille adorée Hyun-seo. Un jour, un monstre géant surgit des profondeurs de la rivière et attaque la foule. Gang-du tente de s’enfuir avec sa fille, mais elle est enlevée brusquement par le monstre, qui disparaît au fond de la rivière. La famille Park décide alors de partir à la recherche de la créature, pour retrouver Hyun-seo…

In Seoul, Gang-du Park runs a small riverside snack bar where he lives with his family, including his beloved daughter Hyun-seo. One day, a giant monster emerges from the depths of the river and attacks the crowd. Gang-du tries to escape with his daughter, but she is abducted by the monster and disappears into the river. The Park family decides to go in search of the creature, to find Hyun-seo…

Bong Joon-ho

Né en 1969 à Daegu en Corée du Sud, il réalise son premier long métrage, Barking Dog, en 2000. Il signe trois ans plus tard le déjà culte Memories of Murder, sur une célèbre affaire de meurtres en série encore aujourd’hui irrésolue. Avec The Host (2006), il révolutionne le film de monstres en lui insufflant un propos social incisif. Après Mother (2009), dans lequel il dépeint l’amour inconditionnel d’une mère à l’égard de son enfant, le film de science-fiction Snowpiercer (2013) et la fable écologique Okja (2017), tous présentés au Festival de Cannes, il obtient la Palme d’or en 2019 avec Parasite, son septième film.

Born in 1969 in Daegu, South Korea, he directed his feature debut Barking Dogs Never Bite in 2000. Three years later, he made the modern-day classic Memories of Murder which delved into the investigation behind a well-known serial murder case that was never solved. With The Host (2006) he turned the monster movie genre on its head while also issuing stinging social commentary. After Mother (2009), a dark portrait of motherly love taken to the extreme, the science-fiction film Snowpiercer (2013) and the eco-fable Okja (2017), all of them selected at the Cannes Film Festival, he won the Palme d’Or in 2019 with Parasite, his seventh film.
