Une évocation de l’une des plus fascinantes énigmes de l’histoire du cinéma : la symbiose persistante entre le conte cinématographique fondateur de la culture américaine, Le Magicien d’Oz, et l’œuvre si singulière de David Lynch, à travers le témoignage de sept cinéastes américains contemporains qui explorent leur propre théorie sur la relation entre Lynch et Oz.

An exploration of one of the most fascinating puzzles in the history of motion pictures: the enduring symbiosis between America’s primordial fairytale, The Wizard of Oz, and David Lynch’s singular brand of popular surrealism, through six distinct perspectives narrated by some of contemporary cinema’s most exciting voices.

Alexandre O. Philippe

Né à Genève, en Suisse, il est titulaire d’une maîtrise en dramaturgie de la Tisch School of the Arts de l’Université de New York. La plupart de ses films ont pour vocation de disséquer les œuvres les plus influentes de grands cinéastes. Ses travaux passés incluent notamment 78/52 (2017), Memory : Les Origines d’Alien (2019) et L’Exorciste selon William Friedkin (2020), tous trois présentés au Festival de Gérardmer. Il est également membre du jury courts métrages en 2018.

Born in Geneva, Switzerland, he holds an MFA in Dramatic Writing from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Most of his films take on the role of unpacking the most influential works of master filmmakers and dissecting seminal screen moments. His past works include 78/52 (2017), Memory: The Origins of Alien (2019) and Leap of Faith (2020), all of them presented at Gérardmer. He was a member of the short films jury in 2018.
